VISI’s Virtual Dedicated Server Brightens Service Lighting’s Future

VISI recommended that they move to a two-tiered architecture where the ColdFusion web layer was de-coupled from the backend MySQL database layer and deployed on separate virtual servers. With growth in mind, the two-tiered architecture allows the company to scale either their web or database servers. Through the use of a load balancer and clustering technologies, scaling out, rather than scaling up, provides a cost effective and stable way to grow their web presence.

With VISI’s Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) based on VMWare, Service Lighting has experienced no server crashes, no need to restart their server, and dramatically faster web page loads. McLellan quantifies the results of their move. “What used to take 45 minutes to generate a data feed and would undoubtedly crash our server every time now takes 20 seconds with zero impact on our site’s performance. You cannot fabricate these kinds of results. VISI knocked it out of the park. We are very pleased with their level of expertise and could not have done this without them.”
