Electronic House Magazines Home of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition acknowledging and showcasing leading providers of technologies and home system automation solutions. Winners are selected based on technological innovation, creative solutions to challenges, and design elements.

According to Jacek Zaworski, co-owner of Procom Enterprises, “These awards ensure our customers of our commitment to providing the latest technologies and our depth of experience in delivering a home that understands the needs of its homeowners.”

Procom was recognized for the following real-world home automation applications:

Home Integration: Procom worked side-by-side with a budget conscious family in a 6,000 square foot Deerfield, IL home to seamlessly integrate an extensive audio/video collection with various other electronic automation needs. With literally thousands of songs in the family’s audio library, Procom’s suggestion included consolidating their entire MP3 collection onto a single custom-built media server and adding a high-def cable box, TiVo unit, Blu-ray player, XM radio tuner and iPod docking station to the system. These were connected to separate audio and video switchers so that all types of media—both audio and video—could be streamed simultaneously to seven flat-panel TVs, dozens of interior and exterior speakers and several laptop computers. For less than the price of a high-end A/V distribution system, Procom installed a Control4 home automation system allowing operation of the A/V setup and the ability to control light switches, thermostats, security sensors, and surveillance cameras.

Home Theatre: When installing a 21’ x16’ home theatre for one of their clients, Procom pulled out all stops. Recognizing the need to balance form with function, they collaborated with a local interior designer to ensure performance and aesthetics were equally unsurpassed. Highlights of this unique custom installation include a 106-inch Da-Lite screen that dominates the room when in use; however, when a button on a remote is pushed motorized draperies glide across it, allowing the decorative aspects of the room to take over. Additionally, this room features a three-dimensional fiber optic lighting that transforms the ceiling into a starry night experience.

Most Amazing Application: While sophisticated custom electronic home systems are the wave of the future, few people equate these technological innovations with the possibility of them infringing upon one’s religious beliefs. However, being sensitive to such issues, Procom developed a specialized solution that helped one family figure out a way to enjoy a high-tech lifestyle without violating any Jewish laws during Shabbat – a religious day that prohibits the use of electronic devices. After hours of research and field testing, Procom’s solution involved a redesign of the circuitry and the addition of a mechanical shunting system that temporarily “disconnects” the front door and keypads and touch panels ordinarily used to operate the lights, thermostats and other household electronics from the electronic sensor until Shabbat is over.

According to Jacek Zaworski, co-owner of Procom Enterprises, “We are honored to have received three awards from Electronic House’s 2010 Home of the Year program. Our customers have come to trust Procom to bring solid and lasting solutions to their home automation expectations. These awards ensure our customers of the strength of our integrated solutions, our commitment to providing the latest technologies, and our depth of experience in delivering a home that intuitively understands the needs of its homeowners.”
